Create Psalm Poetry

Today is Rosh Chodesh, the beginning of the Hebrew month. There’s a Jewish tradition to recite Psalm 104, a song of praise and gratitude to God for the natural world around us, as we begin the new lunar cycle.

In this activity, you’re invited to write a new mash-up of the Psalm- incorporating the elements of the traditional text you identify with, while adding your own original text in between. You can also change or adapt the punctuation, to make it reflect your own gratitude and praise.

The text of verses 10-35 of the original Psalm, in English and Hebrew, can be found below so you can copy and paste as needed.

For an inspiring example, see this video, on Psalm 23.
