Thinking about where and with whom we belong provides us with an opportunity to explore the story of how we came to be who we are, and how our story intersects with others’.

In reflecting on his book, Let’s Talk About Race, Julius Lester shares, “I am a story. So are you. So is everyone. Our race is just one part of our story. To know my story, you have to put together everything I am.” While Lester’s book was originally written for children, it’s actually a complex and beautiful story that reaches people of all ages and backgrounds.

To help us get to know our own stories better so that we can be grateful for our own humanity and appreciate how everyone has a story of how they came to be who they are, we are delighted to share this video of Lester’s book, along with a discussion guide and activity written by Be’chol Lashon.
